Janet Jones

Ms. Janet Jones passed Thursday, November 2, 2023. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 11 AM at the Wheat Street Baptist Church 359 Auburn Avenue NE Atlanta. Interment Lincoln Cemetery. Viewing will be held Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 1 PM - 6 PM.  Please keep her family in prayer.

Janette (Janet) Jones was born on January 19, 1931, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Nathaniel and Warnie Dell Jones.  She was the third child of five children to the late Warnie Dell and Nathaniel Jones.

Janet graduated from David T. Howard High School, Class of 1949.

At an early age, Janet began attending Wheat Street Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend J.R. Henderson. While enrolled at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School she also joined the church there but continued to attend Wheat Street Baptist Church whenever possible. She eventually joined and was baptized at Wheat Street Baptist Church where she joined the William Holmes Border Choir, which she loved dearly.

Janet was employed with the National Biscuit Company, better known as Nabisco in 1969.  She retired in 1993 after 24 years of employment.

On November 2, 2023, Janet transitioned from the physical to the spiritual.  She was preceded in death by her grandmother Hallie Moore and four brothers, Oliver, Clarence, Earle, and Charles.

Janet leaves to cherish her memory, her nephew Bradley K. Jones, God children Elizabeth Haviour, Kelvin McClinton, and Wendy McClinton, her dearest friend Shirley McClinton and family, sister-in-law Mildred Jones, special friends Myrtis Bell, Rosie Williams, Cola Turner, Jacqueline (Jackie) Colbert, her devoted friend and caretaker Jacqueline (Jackie) Powell, other friends, Deacons Mary and Lonnie William and the entire Wheat Street Baptist Church family.
